Welcome back to our Transition Year students who recently embarked on a journey to Kolkata, India, during the Mid-term break, accompanied by Ms. O’Connor and Mr. McGuckin. During their time there, the group had the opportunity to visit Hope care homes, the Hope Hospital, and after-school facilities located in some of the most underprivileged areas of the city. This year marked the 25th Anniversary of the foundation, allowing the students to witness firsthand the remarkable progress the charity has made over the years. Ms. Maureen Forrest, the founder of the charity, joined the group in visiting the Baghar Dumpsite, which holds particular significance for Midleton College as the school supports the Baghar Education project. This initiative provides vital support to schools in the region, a worthy project and one we are proud to be associated with.
