Congratulations to our athletics team who had a hugely successful day at the South Munster Championships in Castleisland yesterday. The team brought home four medals, and secured five Munster qualifications to top off a host of fine performances on the day.
Kyle Kamdem secured gold in the senior boys 100m, smashing his PB in the process. In second for most of the race, a barnstorming last 20m saw him clock a hugely impressive 11.12 to pip his Midleton CBS clubmate on the line in the tightest of photo finishes. Earlier in the day Rachel Roche secured Bronze in the Junior Girls 100m in a superb time of 13.02.
There was gold in the field events too. JP Guerin, yet again produced a winning performance in the Junior Boys long jump, an event he continues to enjoy success in. Jude Buckley took gold in the Senior Boys javelin.
Oscar Murphy moved up in distance and finished fourth in the U16 Mile to progress along with the other medal winners to the Munster Championships in Templemore on Saturday 18th. Well done to all of our other representatives too who performed so well throughout the day.
