It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John Levis, a cherished former Deputy Principal of Midleton College.
Mr. Levis’s presence graced our school for 39 years, during which he wore many hats. He was a dedicated Chemistry teacher, Head of Boarding, Deputy Principal, sports coach, referee, but most of all, he was a colleague and friend to many.
Beginning his journey in our school as a Chemistry teacher, he ascended to the position of Deputy Principal in 2001, serving under the leadership of Mr. Brian Cairns and subsequently Mr. Simon Thompson, before his well-earned retirement in 2008.
His tireless dedication in the classroom, relentless enthusiasm on the sports fields, and wise leadership have significantly shaped Midleton College into the institution it is today. But perhaps Mr. Levis’s most enduring legacy is the warmth, care, and guidance he offered to so many students. His influence extends far beyond the school gates, living on in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known him.
As we remember and honor Mr. Levis’s kind, loyal, and sincere service to our school and its community, our thoughts are especially with his beloved wife Ruth, his son Andrew, his daughters Sarah & Caroline, his extended family, many friends, former colleagues, and students.
His life was a lesson in excellence, compassion, and commitment, and he will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
May Mr. John Levis Rest in Peace.
