Midleton College is brimming with pride as we celebrate the incredible achievements of James Ezenou, a distinguished alumnus and a true champion on the track. His recent victory as the Irish national champion over 110m hurdles marks a sensational continuation of success that began with his stellar performance for Ireland at the European Team Championships in Poland this past June. There, his mastery over the 110m hurdles played a crucial role in securing the top position for the Irish team in their division.
James’s time on the track has been nothing short of extraordinary. In May, he posted the eighth-fastest hurdles time in the history of Iowa State, where he was awarded a scholarship, clocking an impressive 14.08 seconds to win an event at Ames, Iowa. Although still 19, he stepped into his first Senior Championships with vigour and determination, clocking a time of 14.27 seconds that led him to victory.
The Cork City Sports Athletics Person of the Month Award for June now graces James’s trophy cabinet, a well-deserved recognition of his relentless pursuit of excellence. But beyond the accolades and awards, James’s connection to Midleton College remains strong and inspiring. In a heartwarming gesture, he presented his first Irish singlet to the school, now framed and proudly displayed in the Trevor West Sports Hall. This cherished symbol of his journey serves as a beacon of inspiration to current and future students.
James’s achievements resonate strongly with Midleton College’s tradition of nurturing talent and fostering excellence. His success is a living testament to what can be accomplished with determination, hard work, and a robust support system.
Join us in extending heartfelt congratulations to James Ezenou for his remarkable achievements on the national and international stage. His story is a motivating force that encourages us all to pursue our dreams with tenacity and unwavering dedication. Here’s to many more victories and a bright future ahead for this rising star! 🏃♂️🥇
