Form 3 Spanish Students Embark on a Cultural Journey to Santiago de Compostela

Midleton College’s group of 41 Form 3 Spanish students has landed safely in Santiago de Compostela, embarking on an exciting cultural and educational journey. Their adventure started with an overnight stay in Leon, where they were introduced to the rich history and artistic heritage of Spain.

On Monday, the students took an audio-guided tour of La Catedral de Leon, the famous medieval cathedral known for its stunning stained glass collection, the second largest in the world. The detailed architecture and mesmerizing colors provided a unique glimpse into the past, leaving the students in awe.

The exploration continued with a visit to the medieval walled town of Astorga, where students walked through history, experiencing the charm and grandeur of an era gone by. The cobblestone streets, ancient fortifications, and artistic details captured the imagination of these young explorers.

But the adventure didn’t stop there! On Tuesday, the students will dive into the Spanish language with their first language classes, followed by a tour of Salamanca, known as the ‘ciudad dorada’ or golden city, and a delightful tapa trail. The tapa trail will allow them to savor authentic Spanish flavors, making their learning experience even more enjoyable.

This Spanish excursion represents a wonderful opportunity for Midleton College students to immerse themselves in language, culture, and cuisine. It’s more than a school trip; it’s a holistic experience that fosters a love for learning and curiosity about the world.

We wish them continued joy and success as they explore, learn, and make unforgettable memories in the beautiful landscapes of Spain. ¡Buen viaje! 🏰🍲👩‍✈️
